  • The cave tour takes about 60 minutes.
  • The maximum number of visitors in one group is 54 adults or 70 children.
  • Groups with written or phone reservations are given priority over other tourists for entering the cave.
  • If a group with a reservation does not come to the cash desk at least 40 minutes before the entry date, the right of priority will be cancelled.
  • After purchasing their tickets, visitors  are asked to gather at the specified time in front of the cave entrance.
  • Admission to the cave will be organized by the guide according to the supervisor's or operation dispatcher's instructions.
  • Caves may be completely or partly closed if required for safety or other serious reasons.

  For visitors on wheelchairs

  • The dry part of the Punkva caves is accessible all the way to the bottom of Macocha Abbys and back using the tunnel corridor (totally 930 m).
  • The route does not meet the strict parameters of wheelchair access (gradient up to 16%),  capable accompaniment is recommended as well as booking in advance.
  • Cars serving persons on wheelchair can use the parking place directly next to Punkva caves (access through Skalni Mlyn).
  •  Notice: there are no disabled persons toilets in Punkva caves premises (waiting for reconstruction), nearest such facilities are available at the public WC of Skalní Mlýn hotel or nearby Kateřinská Cave.


  •  It is forbidden without any exception to take in animals.
  •  Visitors are obliged to obey the guide's and ferryman´s instructions during the tour and not to disturb his/her presentation.
  •  During the tour, please be very careful especially on stairs and in narrow or low parts, hold on to railings and observe instructions of the guide. It is not allowed to stick out your arms over the board side of the boat.
  •  In case of any unexpected event (e.g. power outage) the visitors must stay put, keep calm and follow the guide's instructions.
  •  Visitors are obliged to report any injury or indisposition during the tour without any delay to the guide who will take care of appropriate treatment.
  •  Visitors with a purchased permit for taking pictures and filming are not allowed to leave the group, slow it down or obstruct other visitors. It is forbidden to take pictures during boating.
  • With regards to the low temperature, high air humidity and other demands of the tour, entry of children up to 3 years of age, disabled or seriously ill persons is not recommended.
  • The cave temperature moves around 8°C, warmer outfit is recomanded.

The entry to the cave is forbidden to:

  • intoxicated person
  • persons without guide
  • children under 10 unless accompanied by an adult



In the caves it is forbidden to:

  • touch, break or otherwise damage dripstone, sinter decoration and cave walls
  • enter areas outside the tour pavements and move away from the guided group
  • litter or otherwise soil the cave
  • bring to the cave large luggage, sport equipment, hiking poles, umbrellas, tripods, etc.
  • take pictures and film (without a purchased permit for taking pictures and filming)
  • smoke, drink, eat
  • touch electrical or other technical equipment
  • disturb horse-shoe bats, bats and other animals


  • Failure to adhere to these Rules may lead to early termination of the cave visit without reimbursement of the entrance fee.
  • In case of a serious violation of the Rules for visitors (in particular in case of damage to any decorations) there will be an offence proceeding or criminal prosecutions opened against the offender.
  • The visitors can express their requests, recognitions, remarks or complaints in writing in the Book of Requests and Complaints which is available on request at the cash desk


The caves are a part of especially protected area according to the act ČNR Nr.114/92 on nature and landscape preservation. At that respect visitors are obliged to follow all its preservation requirements both on surface and underground, they must not damage natural phenomena (rock formations, timber species, plants etc.) and they are to travel only on publicly accessible roads. Violation of the protection or damage to specially protected parts of nature is subject to fine of up to 50.000,- Kč.
